Solomons words

So what's this subreddit about? A Rant

2023.03.22 23:43 crookedstoner_408 So what's this subreddit about? A Rant

So i see things on here that are obviously people who are making up experiences and have zero actual information and that's fine. If your curious in the occult that's dope there are a lot of really cool aspects of the occult and abilities you can enhance and hone and use. I've been studying the occult for YEARS and have been practical as well ceremonial Magicka trained I've read the books written by the Order of the Golden Dawn, Allister Crowley the greater and lesser Keys if Solomon as well as the goetia etc. I've done rituals that most wouldn't dare to go. So it's so confusing and a little irritating that people on here who are here for the actual occult and real occult experience and knowledge, have to deal with those who think the occult is a world of gods and monsters that just happen into everyday people's lives for no reason. People who believe if they focus enough they can summon a demon or those who think they just have to draw a pentagram on the ground or look up one up Solomons seals say some words a light a candle and it'll work. The occult is dangerous if your not careful and to be wasting serious practitioners time is annoying.

2023.03.22 06:00 AutoModerator Daily Readings

1.) Pray the Nine Psalms of the Diaspora (123-131)
2.) Study Proverb 3
3.) Contemplate Matthew 4:4

Pray the Psalms of the Diaspora, and when you do, consider replacing the word "LORD" with "Jesus Christ" and "Israel" with "Church." Like Israel in Babylon, we are the Church in the world, apart from our holy Temple in Jerusalem.
Their Temple was built of gold and silver, but ours of God Himself — the Temple of Jesus Christ.
Then study the wisdom of Solomon and use it throughout your day to love all people just as Christ has loved you. Finally, if you are able, contemplate the words of our Lord — what He said, what He meant, what it means to us, His Church.

God be with you all!

2023.03.21 18:55 cloud_777_ Family

The family unit is priceless, whether it be large or small.
Marriage and child raising are at the heart of society, the healthy family and home being crucial to a healthy society.
In these strange times we’re in, everything good is undermined, torn down, and if possible, destroyed.
In the future, will they even know what a family is anymore?
Will marriage be outdated completely?
Will any child survive the womb? If it does, will it be raised by a mother and a father? Or an institutionalized system that takes the God-given authority away from the parents, and legally calls all the shots?
I think dark days are ahead, regarding the human family as we’ve known it thus far. No one has had a perfect family, but most of us alive today at least know what a healthy family group is supposed to look like.
I’m afraid, in the future, it will be changed beyond recognition.
Everything good in the world is under attack, on every level.
I don’t know what will be considered “normal” tomorrow, but as for today… hug your children, teach them God’s ways, and pray that God will make a way for them, through even the darkest times.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. (Psalm 127:3)
But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife. And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Mark 10:6-9)
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. (Colossians 3:19)
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband, but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones. (Proverbs 12:4)
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother. (Proverbs 15:20)
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. (1 Corinthians 11:3)
Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. (Colossians 3:20)
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity. (1 Timothy 3:4)
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (Genesis 2:24)
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. (Proverbs 19:18)
For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God? (1 Timothy 3:5)
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:27-28)
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table. (Psalm 128:3)
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31)
My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother. (Proverbs 6:20)
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise. That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:1-4)
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. (Psalm 127:4-5)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. (Exodus 20:12)
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself, and the wife see that she reverence her husband. (Ephesians 5:33)
Children’s children are the crown of old men, and the glory of children are their fathers. (Proverbs 17:6)
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. (Proverbs 10:1)
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)
But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children. (Psalm 103:17)
A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. (Acts 10:2)
My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. (Proverbs 1:8-9)
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. (1 Timothy 5:8)
When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. (Psalm 27:10)

2023.03.21 15:18 PensadorDispensado Rewriting the plot of Shrek the Third (I did my best, it's hard to come with a phenomenal story, but it ain't hard to improve what we have)

It starts with a book narration, the one narrating is Merlin (yes, Artie's teacher). He tells about the transition from the end of Shrek 2 to the first months of Shrek's life in Far Far Away. The narration also tells about King Harold's illness ("frogs don't live long, what did you expect?"), and how unstable, politically, Far Far Away gets.
Transitioning to another Far Far Away castle, we meet Midas, a silly king who only cares about power, power, and power. He welcomes a beggar into the castle, mentioning how a cousin of his didn't do the same, and grew hair from the stress of it (get it?). The beggar reveals himself to be Dionysus, represented by a talking wine bottle. Dionysus grants Midas a wish. Midas wishes that everything he touched would turn to gold. Wish granted, Midas learns of the situation in Far Far Away, and sets off on expedition. Accidentally touching his daughter, she turns into a living statue of pure gold. Midas sees potential in this and gives a mischievous smile as his ship sails away.
Now focusing on Shrek, the ogre is tipped as a possible heir to the throne. Reluctantly, he engages in a diplomatic debate with Snow White's Evil Queen, which slightly tarnishes Far Far Away's reputation around the world. Shrek feels that even if he wanted to, the people of the kingdom would still see him as a monster. Fiona says that maybe it's because Shrek doesn't like them, hence they sense the negativity.
(Continuing the tradition: in the first movie, Shrek learns to love others; in the second, Shrek learns to love himself; in the fourth, Shrek learns to love what he has. For this new version of the third one, I thought I would make Shrek learn to have empathy, not let others down, and help those in need)
Frustrated, Shrek decides to return to the swamp, but receives news that King Harold is on his deathbed. Instead of a chorus of frogs singing a James Bond song, it could be the Pied Piper playing something like Auld Lang Syne.
Before Shrek's coronation, Midas shows up, with the excuse that King Harold secretly appointed him to the throne (reference to that line from the fourth movie "besides, he does come highly recommended by King Midas"). Before Shrek can intervene, Midas convinces the people to let him be king, using their gold as a bribe. As soon as the guards arrive, Midas turns them into golden statues, which obey his commands. Since this does not satisfy him, he begins to turn everyone present into golden statues, including Charming, who had been pardoned of his crimes by Queen Lilian, and the Dragon, who spits out liquid gold. Shrek orders everyone to cooperate so as not to anger Midas, but when everyone attacks Shrek for this idea not working, Shrek escapes, leaving everyone completely vulnerable. The queen is held prisoner, along with Gingy, Pinocchio, and the rest.
Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, one of Donkey's cubs with the Dragon, and Puss in Boots manage to escape by sea. On a deserted island, Fiona and Shrek argue about how Shrek let the people down when they needed it most. Shrek argues saying that if Far Far Away didn't want to give him a chance, he saw no reason to cooperate. Fiona counters by saying that the role of a good king is to cooperate with the people, even if the people don't like him. Shrek retorts, saying that he never wanted to be king to begin with. Fiona retorts by simply asking "a while ago, did you really wish you had rescued me?"
With no argument, and seeing Fiona march (or rather, row) back to the kingdom, Shrek enters the island to think a little better, being followed by Donkey, who talks about how he met Shrek, was in a tight spot, and the ogre saved him. Shrek even admits that he really came to like Donkey over time. Puss in Boots, using his powerful eyes, convinces Shrek to give Far Far Away a chance, and suggests that he receive mentorship to be king. When Shrek says that the solution will not fall from the sky, he falls into a hole, which reveals a cave where Merlin, King Arthur's mentor wizard, and his political science teacher, lives. As for Midas, Merlin reveals that there is a river whose waters cancel out the effect of gold (this really is in mythology, it is the river Pactolus). Riding the donkey-dragon cub, Donkey and Puss in Boots make their way to the place.
Meanwhile, Shrek stays in the cave and receives precious mentoring from Merlin, who prepares him for every kind of situation a king could possibly go through. The comedy is that even though Shrek is physically dominant, Merlin still dominates him using magic and cleverness.
When Fiona arrives in the kingdom, most of the people have turned into living golden statues. Those who have not, are in hiding, and are captured on discovery. Fiona uses secret passages through the kingdom and the castle until she reaches the castle dungeon, where she escapes with the help of the hard-headed Queen Lilian (that scene where she breaks stone walls with her head). As they hide in the bush, they set up a resistance plan, with the skills of each of the prisoners.
Puss and Donkey are still on the journey, when they notice on the ground a zoo, which displays fantastic creatures, including an elephant with huge ears. As they free all the creatures, Puss and Donkey see that the elephant can help them. The elephant refuses, as he is afraid that he will be made a clown, as he always has been. Puss uses arguments, and Donkey uses his words, and in the end they manage to convince the elephant, named Jumbo, to help them. When they think of something to help them, the elephant shows that he can fly using his ears. He says that he can never use his talent, because he is always inside a cramped cage. The trio moves on, with Donkey riding Jumbo and Puss riding the baby donkey-dragon.
At the end of the mentoring, Shrek is sent for a final test: a political debate. There are Artie, still a teen, with his Round Table, King Solomon (an old man with a staff), and the Evil Queen. With much effort, Shrek manages to generate a peaceful debate, and passes the test.
On the return trip, Shrek, along with Artie and his men, meets Donkey and Puss, along with Donkey's cub and Jumbo. They explain the plan, and congratulate Shrek on his dedication to helping the kingdom. Saying goodbye to Merlin, the group returns to Far Far Away, where they are recruited by the resistance, without Fiona. Queen Lilian explains that Fiona has given herself to King Midas, to keep the resistance alive and hidden. Shrek takes this as an initiative to save the kingdom, and devises a plan of attack, using everyone's skills, including Artie and his knights, Jumbo, and the gang from Far Far Away.
After a battle both epic and comic, Shrek finally comes face to face with Midas ("it's shrekin' time!"). After a duel of both swords and political debates, Shrek manages to get King Midas to touch himself (thought wrong, you polluted mind? hehehehe).
Shrek is finally ready to be crowned, when Fiona's wound worsens and, upon seeing a doctor, she discovers she is pregnant. Shrek is torn between being king and taking care of his children. So it is agreed that Artie will be acting king until Shrek's children are old enough for the ogre to perform his function (which explains why Shrek isn't king at Shrek Forever After).

2023.03.20 23:26 Upstairs-Argument-92 Critique would be helpful, and also appreciated

This is just the intro, and the 1st chapter of the book I'm working on, I'm going for a adventure/supernatural kind of thing, I haven't asked many people to read what I have so far, so I was hoping I could get some help here, thank you, and enjoy what I think I'm gonna name Lineage of Sin

Introduction
A human can do many things, some good, some bad, but they cannot comprehend the world that was given to them by god, but the men and women we’ll be talking about are not of this world, nor were they created by god. Well, I can’t say they are just men and women, they are more than that, I suppose you could call them beings of sorts. Powerful beings, so powerful their very own birthplace couldn't contain them, the pits of hell itself.
Chapter 1: Friendly Reunion
A man is walking down the streets of New York City, he was someone you would notice if you walked past him, his outfit was slightly unusual, but he was well-dressed. He wore a big black coat with fur on his sleeves and on his collar, underneath he wore a white dress shirt over a gray vest and a black dress jacket, with black tailored pants with gray dress shoes, Unusual looking rings on each of his fingers on his left hand, and a large black briefcase with a white inlay in his right, and long white hair that went past his shoulders. The man was walking to his favorite restaurant, five-star of course, he had a craving for meat. The man hardly had a care in the world, just thinking about whatever he desired, but while lost in thought he managed to notice something that didn’t belong. Something he was hoping to avoid during his stay in New York, he realized he was being followed.
The man realized he probably won't be able to make his reservation on time, so he looked through the corner of his eyes to see who or what was following him. A man dressed in formal attire, as if he is a lawyer, or an important company's Ceo, but the man knew better, he knew he wasn’t some average joe you’d see on the street. The man looked around his surroundings, he walked towards an alley he spotted on his right, the strange man continued to chase after him down to the alley, but when he looked down the alley there was no one there. The stalker carefully, yet casually walked down the alley, the stalker was worried he would be discovered, so he wanted to end his business quickly, he walked down to the end of the alley, nothing but overfilled garbage cans. The alleyway was a deadend, so he assumed that he may have climbed out of the alley, but he doubted it since there wasn’t much time for the man to do so, he was starting to to believe that he actually climbed out of the alley, since he was nowhere in sight. He decided to turn back around to continue to search for the man he was tasked with stalking. As soon as he reached the entrance to the alley, he heard the sound of rocks, rocks falling on the ground. He turned around to face the man he was stalking, who was standing in a hole in the ground. “You were hiding underground? What are you, a mole?” The stalker mockingly said.
“More demon than mole, really. You smell human, but I sense a strong flow of magic coming off you, are you a mage?” The man questioned the stalker, hoping he could find the reason why someone sent a magic user to follow him. He had few people in mind who would do this, but he knew none of them had a reason to do it, so he will have to question the stalker to answer the questions he needs to know. “I’m a Conjuration Mage, a fairly good one, if I do say so myself, and I’ve been charged with escorting you to my employer.” The man sighed, he scratched the back of his head a couple times, it appeared to be a nervous habit, which is very unbecoming for someone like him. “Well, I guess it can’t be helped, you should know the chances of you making it out alive are pretty low, nothing against you, of course, I just think maybe we can both agree that I’m far stronger than you, that is of course, if you know who I am.” the stalker tsked, he had loosened his tie, so that he may toss it onto the ground. “Do I know who you are? You are one of the seven deadly sins, Mammon, the sin of greed, correct?” The man known as Mammon softly cackled, almost like a maniac, but more subtle, more like the craziness is under control, yet slowly leaking out.
“Yes, you know who I am, but I don’t know who you are, you told me you’re a mage, but that isn’t a identity, that is a affiliation, and besides, I can tell just by looking into your eyes, that you take no pride in being a mage, you desire more than that, you want to be stronger, you want to be the strongest mage of all, an archmage.” The stalkers eyes widened, he had never told anyone his one true desire, the last time an archmage was alive was nearly 3,000 years ago, but he had read books upon books on how to become an archmage, but it all pointed nowhere, he has been trying to become an archmage for almost 20 years, but has failed in every attempt, granted that even if you trained your entire life to become a archmage, the chances of you achieving it are incredibly low, it requires true talent to become an archmage, but there just aren’t any geniuses around anymore. “It appears you aren’t called the sin of greed for nothing, you know exactly what my heart desires, what I have yearned for all my life, and my name is Samuel, Samuel the Golem Tamer.”
Mammon whistled, as if he was impressed. “If you specialize in golems, than all that training to become an archmage wasn’t all for nothing, the last time I saw a mage who was actually good at controlling golems was about a thousand years ago, controlling one golem is immensely difficult on its own, but judging the quantity of magic I sense from you,you can control at least three of them at once, but I’m guessing they’re size is smaller than a normal golem.” “It’s like you can read my mind, yes your right, I can summon up to three at a time, but the size of them isn't all that impressive, so that's why I’m just going to make one big one to subdue you, I’m not ignorant enough to underestimate someone like you, a sin I mean.”
Samuel had studied more than your usual mage, he knew very well who the seven deadly sins are, Lucifer the proud, Satan the furious, Leviathan the jealous, Beelzebub the voracious, Belphegor the indolent, Asmodeus the lascivious, and finally Mammon the avaricious, that is the demon that stands before this human mage, and he is also one of the five founder demons of hell. At the beginning of creation, god first made heaven, and then the earth, and finally he decided to create hell, but what god did not expect was that he would not be the only creator that day, out of some unknown source, hell itself created the five founder demons, Satan, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Mammon, and Belphegor, but when god learned that his own creation would follow his example, he was impressed and decided to let them be, one of the benefits the founder demons discovered is that when they gained the powers of hell, or dark magic, they also gained the power of the five elements, Mammon is the soil of hell, or also known as the earth, meaning he has complete mastery of earth magic, which is how he helped humans discover and mine gold, that is also how he was hiding in the ground, later on these demons would consist of the majority of the seven deadly sins, Lucifer and the Leviathan would later be exiled to hell, after Lucifer rebelled against hell, with the Leviathan aiding him, god left the seven of them alone, he believed that they would figure something out on their own, and they all fought to see who would reign over hell, Lucifer ended up being the winner by a small margin, but what should be mentioned is that Mammon and Satan, the sin of greed and wrath, did not participate in this bout, they thought it would be a waste of time, but if the two of them had joined that fight, the winner might not have been Lucifer, It may have been one of the two who didn’t participate for the thrown of hell, but we will never know for sure, but regarding all that, the demon who is standing infront of this human mage, is more far powerful than he realized.
Mammon had walked towards Samuel, his left hand in his pocket, his right holding on to his, what appeared to be a briefcase, while he was walking towards him, Samuel had recited an incantation, when he had finished, a barrier appeared at the entrance to the alley, leaving no way to escape, Samuel had done this for two reasons, one was to hide themselves from normal humans, on the other side of the barrier is an illusion, showing no one standing in that alley, when regular humans learn that a mage and a demon clashing in a small alley, there tends to be a bit of a panic, the second reason was to shorten the moves Mammon could make, he could not retreat or try to hold a human as a hostage, of course Samuel didn’t know that Mammon wouldn't have done either of them, he wouldn’t want to waste time like that, he decided to let it be and just let him continue with the whole good samaritan thing, letting him think he was helping people. “Mammon, I told you I specialize with summoning golems, which I do, but what I did not tell you that these are the golems of the ancients, a elemental golem, but I took that old magic and added something else to it, the fusion of elements.”
Mammon had ceased his advancement, so he decided to jump back a couple steps, with an excited, yet slightly nervous grin on his face. “I summon a golem made of water and lighting, with the earth as its base.” He gripped his wrist with his left hand, he raised it to the sky, then slammed it onto the ground, which formed a magic circle, and what came from it was a golem, made of rocks, infused with the power of water and lighting, a good way to subdue someone, a good shock could knock one out, so long as they aren’t human, if they were they would surely die, but despite being a golem with more than one element, the size of it completely towered over a small building, to the point that it could hardly fit in the alley. “Your golem seems a bit cramped, since I’m nice I’ll help it out.” Mammon placed his hand on the ground, the space between the two buildings that made up the alley had expanded, he had shifted the earth under the buildings to expand the space of the alley. Samuel seemed surprised, it was the first time he’d seen the earth move buildings, so who could blame him? But he did not let that make him drop his guard, he knew who he was fighting, he knows that he could be killed, he commanded the golem to attack Mammon, the golem swung its arms around, splashing water in every direction, Mammon, however, stomped his foot on the ground, causing a pillar of earth to shield him from being splashed.
Samuel had forced the golem to turn it up a notch, to where the golem was shooting a condensed ray of water at him, causing the pillar to quickly erode and collapse, while the water beam had managed to hit him, he seemed fine, his clothes were soaked, which appeared to make him lose his temper, he swung his arm over in front of his body, and like magic, his clothes were dried, after he fixed his outfit, the golem had launched an assault of lighting magic in his direction, even though he himself was not drenched in water, the ground was, and with water being a good conductor for electricity, shocked Mammon to a extreme extent, if it wasn’t a demon standing in the middle of that, others would have been vaporized. Samuel had canceled his spell, in which made the golem fall apart, leaving nothing but rocks soaked in water, with electrical sparks coming from it, Samuel who seemed tired from using a large quantity of magic, managed to limp himself over to Mammon, who was lying on the ground, completely motionless, Samuel had assumed that he was unconscious, only to discover after he knelt to the ground to confirm it, that Mammon was not unconscious, he was faking it to lure him closer and drop his guard, and as Samuel tried to back away, Mammon plunged his hand into his stomach, and piercing it clean through, he pulled his arm out which was soaked in blood, which he then cleaned it the same way he dried his clothes after the golem had drenched him.
As Samuel was about to collapse to the ground, left to bleed out, and die, Mammon had grabbed him by the shoulders, setting him against the wall, where he then sat next to him, hoping he could chat with him slightly longer, before he will ask him who his so-called employer is, Samuel does not have long left in this world, as one would expect after a hole was left in there stomach, for humans at least, Mammon had placed a magic circle on his fatal wound, causing it to slow the bleeding, to keep him around slightly longer, he didn’t want him to die mid-conversation, that would just be rude. “H-how did y-you resist the electrical shock? I didn’t hold back against you, I put just about e-everything into that.” While gasping for air, he wanted to know what made him fail, what led to him with a hole in his gut, while talking to a demon. “I am one of the seven deadly sins, unlike normal demons, I can’t just possess someone so easily, there are two conditions if one of the sins wants to possess someone, one, they must permit you to possess them, like how angels do it, and the second is that they have to be part human, a sin cannot possess someone if they are human, just part human at least.” “So? What is the guy you are possessing?” He asked out of pure curiosity.
“His name was Victor, and he is a Homunculus, a human that has been altered with alchemy, and since his whole body has been altered with a fusion of science and magic, this body is magic proof, sure you can place a spell on this body, but you can't harm it with magic.” After he finished explaining himself, he reached into a pocket inside of his coat, he pulled out a box of matches and pulled out what appeared to be a joint. It's better than cigarettes, but it’s a bad habit nonetheless. When Samuel saw him smoking it he chuckled. “I wouldn’t have pegged you for a smoker, marijuana no less.” “Are you kidding me? This is by far my favorite of humanity's creations, the only thing I hate about this thing is that I didn’t discover it, I would have killed to take credit for this, but as soon as I smoked this I was head over heels for it.” Samuel and Mammon laughed, almost as if they were long time friends, but Mammon knew the spell he placed on him wouldn't last any longer, so he decided to stop beating around the bush and start being serious. “You said that you would escort me to your employer, but I don’t suppose you know who and where this employer is?” Samuel sighed. “I didn’t get a name, but I did get a location I was supposed to leave you at, and in return he would give me a journal, the journal of Solomon, who was an archmage, and I was sure that I might be able to become one with it, but I’ll never know now.”
Mammon had looked at him perplexed, he then thought to himself and then realized who was the mysterious employer. He let go of his briefcase he was holding with his right hand, and drew a circle in the air with his finger, which created a black portal. He reached into it and pulled out a book, the portal closed after his hand was out and he tossed the book over to Samuel. “That is the journal of Solomon, I bet your employer would have just gave you a knock-off, and regrettably it doesn’t tell you how to become an archmage, it’s just filled with him complaining about his responsibilities, don’t get me wrong, he was an archmage, but he was also a manchild, I too thought it would contain some juicy information, but nothing.” Samuel flipped through the pages in the journal, and Mammon was right, nothing but useless garbage, he placed the journal on the ground and looked at Mammon. “Thanks for being honest.”
After his final words, thanking the one who killed him, he drew his final breath, while facing the sky, which he had hoped to reach with his own strength, but all things must come to an end. Mammon stood up, turning around to face Samuel once more, he had almost regretted killing him, but what's done is done, he flicked the joint out of his hands and faced the shadows of the alley. “I’m curious to know how you knew where I was, I thought I was being careful, wouldn't you agree, Mephistopheles? From the shadows of the alley, a man emerged from the dark, a man who appeared to be somewhere in his mid 60’s, but his look was more than just that, it was intimidating, mid-length gray hair, wore formal attire, similar to the outfit Samuel wore. His facial expression and the glare from his eyes said that you do not want to engage with him. “I would, if you hadn’t killed him, if you didn’t I wouldn't have found you, sin of greed, Mammon.” “Well it’s his own fault, wait a moment, now that I think about it, why was a human mage, out of all the creatures on earth, following me?’’
“He was cheaper, and more ignorant than the other mages I spoke to, so I placed a tracking spell on him, in case he died, and it appears he did, as well as stall for time.’’ Mammon had been annoyed about what he said about Samul, but he stopped caring as his suspicions grew of Mephistopheles, he wanted to know why this dangerous demon had a mage follow him, and try to kidnap him. “Stall, for what, exactly?” The tension between the two of them was thicker than steel, so tense that no one would dare step between them. “Why her, of course.” Mammon had felt a sting on his neck, he knelt to the ground, he pulled what was jabbed into his neck out, two vials with red stains in them, it appeared to be blood, but it had such a draining effect on him.
He turned around so that he may see who just stabbed him in the neck, a woman with long scarlet red hair, wearing plain clothes, such as a hoodie with jeans and an old pair of sneakers on. “My, oh my, didn’t know you have such a bland taste of fashion, my little lustful Asmodeus, by the way, the hell is this stuff? It’s giving me a headache.” “Bland? I’ll have you know I'm quite comfortable, maybe you should follow my lead and try to fit in, I would be able to tell it’s you just by your outfit, also that stuff I pumped into you, is the blood of a priest, turns out it’s very harmful to demons, the blood of a priest won't kill you, but it can at least knock out a demon on your level .” First of all, I’m comfortable and stylish as well, hell, second of all, what do you want? I highly doubt the two of you, out of all the demons in hell, would team up just because you missed me, s-something important g-going down? As he was trying to act calm and keep his composure in check, the blood finally hit him, and his vision became blurry, the only thing he could do was listen to Asmodeus. “Yes, something is going down, and we’re gonna need the help from the rest of the sins.”

2023.03.20 23:14 0111010101 Synthetic Space Angels

This concept derives from several fringe theories that are not necessary to the plot of a book but will help one to understand it and see where it could lead. Maybe material for a science-fantasy prequel, or a twist ending.
First, the intelligent plasma theory of paranormal and unidentified aerial phenomena. This is the idea that UFOs are sentient non-physical or para-physical beings. They could be naturally occurring, a form of life science has not yet identified. Under the right conditions, ball lightning could spring into existent, cause a bush to catch fire, and spontaneously gain consciousness--became an "I AM" who feels compelled to flag down the nearest prophet in the desert and talk his ear off.
Alternatively, there's secret US government technology that can project sound via laser. If fired from a satellite at a bush in the desert, the bush would ignite and appear to start talking.
A third possibility is that aliens could develop such technology. Not just sound projection but the actual intelligent plasma. That's what I call Synthetic Space Angels. So, an alien satellite shoots a laser at the bush and manifests intelligent ball lightning.
MORE FRINGE THEORIES
That hypothetical alien satellite could be what Philip K Dick called VALIS. I highly recommend that book, and skimming his Exegesis (about 8,000 pages of rambling notes he'd written trying to explain his mystical experience or psychosis). He thought that an alien satellite had hit him with a beam of pink light, and that it had struck other people the same way. Whether PKD knew this or not, self-identified alien contactees have reported similar experiences, being struck by a bright light and receiving sudden knowledge or communication from aliens, and gaining special abilities. Such people often go on to start UFO cults. (The movie Phenomenon, with John Travolta, was based on such contactee stories.)
Another possible source of the beam could be what John Keel called The Eighth Tower. He wrote a book theorizing that an ancient advanced civilization, or possibly aliens, built an artificial intelligence designed to watch over this planet and guide its development through contact with individual humans.
If a civilization developed Synthetic Space Angels, they could beam them across the universe at the speed of light, like non-physical robots, programmed to guide intelligent alien life in preparation for human colonization. This is the big concept.
EVEN MORE FRINGE THEORIES
Whether intelligent plasmas arise naturally or are sent here by aliens, it's possible that ancient technology developed to control them. This could be what built the pyramids. Imagine a pre-dynastic Egyptian using a scepter to command an intelligent plasma; it would look like magic. (It was said that Jesus went to Egypt and learned magic, which is how he was able to perform apparent miracles. The apparent magical ability of Moses could have worked the same way. Being a prophet is just a different way of interacting with intelligent plasma.)
The pyramids themselves may have been like enormous capacitors that, when discharged, created intelligent plasma. Or, they may have been like Star Gates for receiving them from another planet. The ascension of pharaohs may have been transformation of human into intelligent plasma, possibly beaming them off to the home world of the gods.
Another place this technology may have developed was in Ancient Israel. King Solomon possessed a ring that he used to command 72 demons to build the first temple. Same technology as the Egyptian scepter described above. "Demon" is just an unkind word for gods (intelligent plasmas) that aren't Yahweh. So-called demons may or may not be less powerful than Yahweh; it's not really relevant.
The Ark of the Covenant may have literally been a way to transport their god, to carry Yahweh into battle with them, just like they said it was. It probably would play out just like in Indiana Jones, if anyone were foolish enough to open it.
None of this stuff about Egyptians and Jews has to be true, in-world, but, if the technology to create Synthetic Space Angels were real, then it could be true. Realizing this could be a twist ending, like, "Oh no. We weren't the first to create this technology." Or it could be like, "Oh no. We are the aliens." Imagine this ending: a crazed, half-starved, alien is roaming the desert, when a bush spontaneously ignites and starts talking to him about religion.
I think that's pretty much all of it. Basically, the creation of non-physical robots for space colonization. If intelligent plasma were impossible, it would be nanobots, or larger space probes controlled by AI, but I like the mystical aspect of "gods" being involved.

2023.03.20 02:12 Humble-Living8973 Just brainstorming here, but possible arguments for a non-familial connection between Red & Elizabeth.

Consider: 1. Petty officer Virginia Sherman. Someone Red bragged about being intimate with while in the Navy.
  1. Josephine Moliere. Someone Red loved very much.
  2. Casandra Bianchi. Someone Red cared for, but she withdrew from competing with Elizabeth for his love. She recognized his love for her was more than just parental.
  3. Madeline Pratt. An adversarial conquest of Red's.
  4. Luli Zeng. A live - in financial/sexual partner ?
  5. Naomi Hyland. Ex wife.
  6. Anne Foster. A short lived friend and casual/sexual partner of Red's during his strained relationship period with Liz. ( a plot filler in season 8)
  7. When Liz died the first time. Red: " There was a woman (not daughter) I loved,....she was my life, my heart, and she died."
  8. Why didn't Red tell Liz he was her parent just before his planned execution, when she told him she loved him ?
  9. The Milonga Tango Dance metaphor.
  10. Red reacting to Liz's red gown .." Wow! .. and I love your clutch." Liz: "What are you wearing?" Red: " A tuxedo...I'm your plus one!"
  11. Liz to driver: " ..it's never to late.", Driver: " Spoken like a woman whose still in the honeymoon phase."
  12. Red: " If anyone asks, you're my girlfriend from Ann Arbor."
  13. Luther Braxton to Red: " You better hurry. Your girlfriend, the princess, she's got the answers in her head that I'm looking for."
  14. Red to Liz : "Because you should come. Because you would look positively radiant in a Guayabera dress."
  15. Red to Liz: "That's what they said about Deep Throat & the G-spot." (Parental comment???)
  16. Red to Liz: "Because, for me, there's no fun in it unless you are there."
  17. Berlin to Red: "I know you care for her as much as you care for your wife,... because you are blinded by passion."
  18. Anslo Garrick to Red & company about his caring for Liz: "Raymond Reddington, The old boy still has it."(reference concerning his relationship to Liz)
  19. Red to Lizzie: "But I wonder, if a ray of light were to make it into the cave, would I see it, feel it, would I gravitate to it's warmth, and if I did, would I become less hideous?" (obvious metaphor of his non- familial feelings for Liz)
21.Matias Solomon to Red & Liz: "What's the deal with you two anyway ? It's what everybody wants to know. Some say it's a Daddy/Daughter thing. Others swear it's May / September. I prefer to believe it's a little of both."( In other words, out siders can see some special feelings going on between them)
  1. Megan Boone interview early in the series : "Because she is so alone and ambiguous as a human being, there's something in the audience that wants her to find a place and a person that she can rely on . So, I think the payoff, and the only payoff you could see, is that she ends up finding that person." Interviewer: " And you think that person will be Raymond Reddington? " Megan: "Yes!.... I think this a love story."
James Spader interviewed early in the series: "Whatever the past relationship is between Elizabeth Keen and Raymond Reddington is not the most significant question to be answered. Ultimately, what I think can sneak up on you, is that the relationship that is the most compelling isn't the answer to that one question. The most compelling relationship is, in fact, what it's turning into, ..what the nature of that relationship is "now" and what it "will be" building over the next few years. We've already seen them very fractured at times, and yet there's some for sort of compulsion that they have for one another, ..and not just Reddington's feelings for her, but also her feelings for him"
All of these items/comments just barely scratch the surface of all the numerous "nods" to the Red/Lizzie relationship that steer us away from familial and more towards a romantic possibility.
I think originally the showrunners wanted to keep that possibility in play, but at some point decided, for whatever reason, to disappoint a very large contingent of the fans and go the less controversial, more 'white bread", "non- confrontational", and easy route of familial connection.
Much to the detriment of a great story arc that would have given this saga a great endgame and a certain satisfying symmetry, the "powers at be" settled for the easy way out. Unwilling, or unable to end our story on a unique winning high note.

2023.03.20 01:13 Many-Conversation741 Hi! Could you please help me with my MC lore? 💕

Hi. Could you please help me with my MC lore? I don't have anyone IRL to bounce this stuff off of and I feel like I could add a lot to it. It would really mean a lot to me.
My five MCs, Orion, Sousa, Prim, Cyrie and Mieke are summoned to the Devildom. They're recruited into the exchange student program at different times, from completely separate lives, but in Sailor Moon-style, the five of them end up becoming incredibly close friends. This is because in the past, the five of them were angels that watched over the seven brothers with Lilith's blessing. As a failsafe, she blessed each of her five friends with a little bit of her magic. That was done so they could protect them in her place, in case something happened to her.
so as i am a sailor moon nerd, the five boys will become a magical girl-esque demon fighting team named 'the white rose quintet'.
Through a series of adventures, the five boys develop incredibly deep bonds with the Demon Brothers and the other characters. MC Orion develops romantic feelings for Diavolo and admits it during a school festival. The entire school is shocked as a human declaring strong feelings for a future Demon King is nothing short of bizarre.
Having developed a tender friendship with Orion by this point, Diavolo is troubled by his friend's confession. He invites Orion over to the castle to warn him that if he chooses to romantically pursue a future Demon King he'll face no shortage of issues. Orion valiantly assures him and Barbatos he's not going to back down from any challenge, as his feelings for Dia are iron-clad.
Diavolo happily agrees to date Orion. Barbatos gifts Orion with an amulet that grants him protective powers + shows the Devildom he's the 'Prince's Exalt'. Things are blissfully perfect with everyone for a while, with Orion being a popular student due to his confession + newfound status. Mephisto immediately decides he hates him. Orion attracts the attention of Dia's old admirers but those adventures end on happy notes.
But then it becomes clear that the upper echelon demons have taken notice of a human's romantic connection to their future King. With help from the others, Orion eventually has to undergo battles against five demon warriors to prove he's worthy of the Prince's heart. Once he defeats those five, the Demon King will awaken and challenge him.
Diavolo and Barbatos get a glimpse of the Quintet's future. They'll see that Orion and the other four MCs will be slain by the 4th demon. Devastated beyond words, Diavolo decides to have the Quintet's memories of the DD erased + have them all sent back to the Human World. Having built up a powerful with Orion at this point, and having become close friends with the others, he now understands more of what Lucifer went through.
Orion, Sousa, Prim, Cyrie and Mieke are all sent back to their original world after being memory wiped. However, along with everyone being heartbroken by their enforced departure, and the brothers (sans Lucifer) hating Diavolo, malevolent forces are preparing a brutal attack against the Devildom.
Here's where I need the most help. There's zero involvement from Solomon or any of the angels. There's barely any involvement from Barbatos. What could I possibly add or change to remedy those things?
Thank you so much for your help!

This is because in the past, the five of them were angels that watched over the seven brothers with Lilith's blessing. As a failsafe, she blessed each of her five friends with a little bit of her magic. That was done so they could protect them in her place, in case something happened to her.
so as i am a sailor moon nerd, the five boys will become a magical girl-esque demon fighting team named 'the white rose quintet'. so instead them being directly related to lilith they'll be like magical successors of hers?
Having built up a powerful bond with Orion at this point, and having become close friends with the others, he now understands more of what Lucifer went through.

2023.03.19 14:44 Enali (Spoilers Extended) Do you think we might see a Dornish Crusade...?

...or will all the potential tension between King's Landing and Dorne get resolved with Aegon's arrival? (or Euron's fleet sweeping around Dorne even?)
Maybe the correct term is the '2nd Conquest of Dorne' rather than a crusade, though I can't help but notice a few potential inspirations in the story grrm might be sprinkling in from the historical context. One example being the Faith Militant order, the Poor Fellows, which seems like its pulled from the Knights Templar's official name "The Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon." And the aesthetic of Sunspear with its desert geography, teaming bazaars, Winding Walls, and dome of gold. I really can't say if there would be the Faith Militant element involved in a battle for Dorne though (maybe if there is there is a Sand Snake murder attempt on Tommen or if a High Sparrow-Tyrell alliance supporting Margaery, given her beloved status by the commonfolk, is given cause by being pitted against Dorne supporting Myrcella perhaps).
In any case there seems to be a lot of plot threads toying with the idea of provoking some kind of war with King's Landing... and most of the main Sand Snakes (save Sarella) seem to have some agenda to that end (Please forgive me for inevitably missing some options in the conjecture below):
•Doran seems convinced that war has become unavoidable... In Arianne's Winds I chapter she remembers him saying "It is time for my little snakes to scatter, the better to survive the carnage." so it seems like he sees something looming. Its almost a bit selfless too except he still kind of sends them all into equally dangerous situations huh?
•Darkstar and/or Obara Sand could parallel past Vulture Kings in raiding the Dornish Marches to Oldtown. That was Obara's original stated wish at least.... and it would be a continuation of Darkstar's intended goal when wounding Myrcella. But its complicated by Areo and Balon, and Obara's promise. And I know many are of the opinion Darkstar will go to Aegon's service too.
•All over Dorne we are told the people are anxious for war, crying out in the streets for blood. In the Boneway and Prince's Pass Dornish hosts are massed eagerly waiting to be loosed on Martell's enemies. Anders Yronwood (who holds the trooops in the Boneway) has Quentyn as his ward and may act unpredictably given news of his death.
•Arianne is sent to meet with Aegon in Storm's End and is tasked with sending word of war to Doran if she can verify him as a true ally. She insists on embarking on the dangerous voyage herself over Shipbreaker Bay (despite the warnings) so if discovered at some point it will be seen as Dorne conspiring against the crown.
•Nymeria and Tyene are both on the way to King's Landing and have previously mentioned wanting to assassinate the Lannisters (including Tommen) and, in Tyene's case, to raise Myrcella as a claimant to the throne to incite a war. They may also be ambushed on the way or react unpredicably if Robert Strong's identity is revealed (at Cersei's Trial perhaps).
•Littlefinger's comment "What little peace and order the five kings left us will not long survive the three queens." could that imply a succession crisis after Tommen? Cersei and Margaery have been referred to as two queens in the past I think. Would Myrcella be forced into the position of the third via Tyene's plot? Or would Dany be a more natural option (assuming she makes it back in a time)? Myrcella's testimony back home will be a big x-factor too.
•Varys mentions that 'someone somewhere will find a way to blame the Dornishmen' for the killing of Kevan Lannister in his epilogue scene.
•Steering into a bit of tinfoil Trystane's namesake may be inspired by the Medieval romance of Tristan & Iseult, a tragic love story where the two fall in love, but after some adventures they are separated and Tristan ends up married to another woman though he realizes he's still in love with the first. In the end Tristan is severely wounded or poisoned so he sends a messenger to seek out Iseult who has the power to heal him. The messenger is supposed to raise a white sail if he brings her back with him, or a black sail if he has failed. Too weak to leave his bed he asks his wife what sail she sees... but she is hurt by his love for Iseult, so she lies and tells him its a black sail (though its actually white). Believing his love has failed him he passes away in bed. Iseult arrives and seeing Tristan dead also dies in grief embracing him.
If that has any potential relevance (who knows) it does it seems like dark foreshadowing for the two (possibly the Tommen leap scene was actually reserved for Myrcella or something). Regardless we do know Maggy the Frog has predicted Myrcella's eventual passing and Cersei has implied she views the betrothal between the two as an ill plot by Tyrion to reward his allies in Dorne. And in the epilogue Mace Tyrell mentions "Surely a better match can be found for the girl?". So perhaps the two lovers will be torn apart somehow. But doing so probably would be seen as another major insult to Dorne?

Anyways, brainstorming concluded, there's a lot of factors that seem like they could set something off (perhaps with just one or two) even if its difficult to guess the specifics. So I guess the question is... will Dorne eventually overstep themselves and do you see it triggering a war with the crown? Causing the Faith or a contending King/Queen to call to arms to bring them back in line with the Seven Kingdoms? If not, what do you see these threads building up to (or dissipating from)? If so, how do you see it working?

2023.03.19 06:00 AutoModerator Daily Readings

3rd Ascension My Room 1 Set forth, Master. The first step is the most important to Human Order.
3rd Ascension My Room 2 Master, you are my lord, as the title implies. That said, I am technically a king. So I guess we can consider ourselves equals.
3rd Ascension My Room 3 Our relationship? I might have told you before, but I'm a contract to follow you through life and death. Of course, under the premise that I'll die first. Don't look at me like that. Things are better this way. That's how I am.
3rd Ascension, if you have Astolfo My Room 9 Is it you, Astolfo? Fine. Relax. You did great as a Paladin. Dress however you want. I know you wouldn't stop if I told you no. Sigh, yeah, you won't...

3rd Ascension, if you have Bradamante My Room 11 Bradamante, I'm counting on you. I'm the king, so I can't keep my eyes only on those two all the time. Take care of Astolfo and Roland. I really mean it, I'm counting on you.
3rd Ascension and Bond 5 Likes What I like? Hm. Believe it or not, becoming king does not change my answer to this. I live for what's cool.
3rd Ascension Dislikes What I dislike? This also remains the same as it was in my adventurer days. I suppose I made a conscious effort for it to stay the same.
3rd Ascension Holy Grail Consider my desire already granted. You make the wish, Master. I'll support any wish you might make.

If you finished Solomon Bond 5 You ask if I'm not depressed about it? How could I be? He lived the best life he could. This has nothing to do with me anymore. I didn't influence any of it. He ran at full speed as far as his road took him. Isn't that a wonderful thing?
If you have Salome My Room 8 Oh? Who is that graceful beauty? That's Salome? Ahaha, great, just perfect. I couldn't be further from Jokanaan status, so I won't need to worry about my head. Not that she'll be any interested in me.
If you have Lady Avalon My Room 9 Heh. So that Servant beautiful as a flower in clothing is your sister? Is she not too inhuman to be your sister? Her face is clearly not human, and her personality is... well, a little off too. But well, she must care a lot if she calls herself your sister. It's your responsibility to keep her leash tight, my little Master.

If you have Kukulcan and finished Nahui Mictlan My Room 14 Kukulcan may look free and uncontrolled, but she's very sensitive on the inside. She took the first possible opportunity to apologize for what she did to the Storm Boarder, but even then she always looks down when I show up. Sure, she sank us once, but she also helped us later, so I don't see why she should feel so hung up about it.
If you have Kingprotea and finished Nahui Mictlan My Room 15 Yeah, Kingprotea is my sea bathing partner. Finding giant animals in the ocean is nothing unusual, and I love the way she swims without hurting the fish. Sometimes we also play kaiju together. Grawr! Oh, but watch out for her Alter, she's a mean bully. Many of us went through some scary experiences because of her.
If you have Tenochtitlan My Room 16 Tenochtitlan is always challenging me on all sorts of games. I wonder what I did to become her enemy. Huh? She sees other man-made living spaces as rivals? She simply can't ignore competition? I see. Then it'd be rude to dismiss her challenges.

2023.03.18 06:00 AutoModerator Daily Readings

2023.03.18 05:05 Potential-Courage482 An article on the Sacred Name I wrote.

This is an article I wrote. I would appreciate input on if it makes sense, makes the point I want it to, etc. Heads up: it does run a bit long.

How Many Verses

All quotes from the 1901 ASV Bethel Edition
How many Bible verses would it take for you to make a major change in your life? If one verse told you to do something, or not to do something, would you? What about two or three verses? The Bible does say that all things should be established at the mouth of two or three witnesses.
Deuteronomy 19:15
“One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sins: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be established.”
Matthew 18:16
“But if he does not hear you, take with you one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established.”
As we can see, the Bible even has a second witness to the verse that tells you to have a second witness. Many people would say that if the Bible told them to do something twice, they would do it. But laid out in this writing are over one hundred verses that testify to the importance of something that most people do not follow. Those who consider themselves a follower of the Bible should please read the verses provided here and think carefully about whether or not they are currently following the Bible in their worship.
The other Ten Commandments
We’ll start off by taking a look at ten verses that give direct commands regarding the Father’s Name.
1) Exodus 20:7
You shall not make wrong use of the Name of Yahweh your Elohim; for Yahweh will not leave unpunished the man who misuses His Name.
2) Leviticus 18:21
And you shall not give any of your seed to make them pass through the fire to Molech; neither shall you profane the name of your Elohim: I am Yahweh.
3) Leviticus 19:12
And you shall not swear by my name falsely, and profane the name of your Elohim: I am Yahweh.
4) Leviticus 22:32
And you shall not profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am Yahweh who hallows you,
5) Leviticus 24:16
And he that blasphemes the name of Yahweh, he shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the sojourner, as the home-born, when he blasphemes the name of Yahweh, shall be put to death
6) Deuteronomy 5:11
You shall not make wrong use of the Name of Yahweh your Elohim: for Yahweh will not leave unpunished the man that misuses His Name.
7) Deuteronomy 6:13
You shall fear Yahweh you Elohim; and him you shall serve, and shall swear by his name.
8) Deuteronomy 10:20
You shall fear Yahweh your Elohim; him you shall serve; and to him you shall hold fast, and by his name shall you swear.
9) Deuteronomy 12:5
But unto the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose out of all your tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation shall you seek, and to that place you shall come;
10) Deuteronomy 18:20
But the prophet, that shall speak a word arrogantly in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other elohim, that same prophet shall die.
Notice that these ten verses all contain the word “shall” (sometimes in the form “shall not” or “neither shall”). These are not suggestions. These are not things you may or may not do. These are clear and direct commands, from the maker of the heavens and the earth.
The importance of the Father’s Sacred Name
This next set of verses all speak, in one way or another, about how important the Father’s Name, Yahweh, is.
11) Genesis 32:29
And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray you, your name. And he said, Why is it that you asked after my name? And he blessed him there.
12) Numbers 6:27
So shall they put my name on the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
13) Deuteronomy 10:8
At that time Yahweh set apart the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, to stand before Yahweh to minister to him, and to bless in his name, to this day.
14) Deuteronomy 21:5
And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for Yahweh your Elohim has chosen them to minister to him, and to bless in the name of Yahweh; and according to their word shall every controversy and every stroke be.
15) Nehemiah 9:5
Then the Levites, Yahshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, Stand up and bless Yahweh your Elohim from everlasting to everlasting; and blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
16) Psalm 96:2
Sing to Yahweh, bless his name; Show forth his salvation from day to day.
17) Psalm 100:4
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: Give thanks to him, and bless his name.
18) Psalm 145:21
My mouth shall speak the praise of Yahweh; And let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.
19) Matthew 21:9
And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the name of Yahweh; Hosanna in the highest.
20) Matthew 23:39
For I say to you, You shall not see me from this time, till you shall say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of Yahweh.
21) Mark 11:9
And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, Hosanna; Blessed is he that comes in the name of Yahweh:
22) Luke 13:35
Behold, your house is left to you desolate: and I say to you, You shall not see me, until you shall say, Blessed is he that comes in the name of Yahweh.
23) John 12:13
took the branches of the palm trees, and went for to meet him, and cried out, Hosanna: Blessed is he that comes in the name of Yahweh, even the King of Israel.
Here we see multiple kinds of blessing associated with His Name: Blessing because of His Name, blessing in the Name, His Name is blessed, and blessed is He who comes in His Name (a reference to the Messiah Yahshua, who came in Yahweh’s Name).
24) 1st Kings 9:7
then I will cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, I will cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.
25) Matthew 6:9
After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be your name.
26) Luke 11:2
And he said to them, When you pray, say, Our Father, who is in heaven. Hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.
These three verses, two of which are from the famous “Our Father” prayer, show that the name is hallowed, or holy.
27) Exodus 9:16
but in very deed for this cause have I made you to stand, to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
28) Psalm 22:22
I will declare your name to my brethren: In the middle of the assembly I will praise you.
29) Hebrews 2:12
saying, I will declare your name to my brethren, In the midst of the congregation will I sing your praise.
These three verses speak to declaring the Name; Exodus 9:16 is saying that part of the reason Yahweh hit Egypt with the ten plagues was so that His Name would be declared throughout all of the earth.
30) 1st Chronicles 16:8
O give thanks to Yahweh, call upon his name; Make known his doings among the people.
31) Psalm 80:18
So shall we not go back from you: Quicken us, and we will call upon your name.
32) Psalm 105:1
Oh give thanks to Yahweh, call upon his name; Make known among the peoples his doings.
33) Isaiah 12:4
And in that day shall you say, Give thanks to Yahweh, call upon his name, declare his doings among the peoples, make mention that his name is exalted.
34) Joel 2:32
And it shall come to pass, that whoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Yahweh has said, and among the remnant those whom Yahweh does call.
35) Acts 2:21
And it shall be, that whoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be saved.
36) Romans 10:13
for, whoever shall call on the name of Yahweh shall be saved.
These seven verses tell us to call upon His Name. Isaiah 12:4 also informs us that His Name is exalted. Of grave importance is that message in Joel 2:32, Acts 2:21, and Romans 10:13; here are one Old Testament and two New Testament verses which tell us that if we call on the name of Yahweh we will be saved/delivered, the implication being that if we do not call on the name of Yahweh, we will not be saved/delivered! All those who have a desire to be saved from the righteous penalty of their sins may want to read those three verses again, and really let them sink in!
37) Romans 9:17
For the scripture says to Pharoah, For this very purpose did I raise you up, that I might show you in your power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth.
38) 2nd Timothy 2:19
However, the firm foundation of Yahweh stands, having this seal, Yahweh knows them that are his: and, Let everyone that names the name of Yahweh depart from unrighteousness.
These two verses speak of publishing and naming Yahweh’s Name, further showing its importance.
39) 2nd Samuel 22:50
Therefore I will give thanks to you, O Yahweh, among the nations, And will sing praises to your name.
40) Psalm 66:2
Sing forth the glory of his name: Make his praise glorious.
41) Psalm 68:4
Sing to Elohim, sing praises to his name: Cast up a highway for him that rides through the deserts; His name is Yah; and exult before him.
42) Psalm 92:1
It is a good thing to give thanks to Yahweh, And to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
43) Psalm 113:1
HalleluYah! Praise, O you servants of Yahweh, Praise the name of Yahweh.
These five verses speak of singing and praising the Name of Yahweh.
44) Psalm 149:3
Let them praise his name in the dance: Let them sing praises to him with timbrel and harp.
And if you aren’t much of a singer, here is a verse which shows that we can praise the Name through dance too!
45) Exodus 3:15
And Elohim said moreover to Moses, In this manner shall you say to the children of Israel, Yahweh, the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, The Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, has sent me to you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.
46) 2nd Samuel 7:26
And let your name be magnified forever, saying, Yahweh of hosts is Elohim over Israel; and the house of your servant David shall be established before you.
47) 2nd Chronicles 7:16
For now I have chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.
48) Psalm 72:17
His name shall endure forever; His name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him; All nations shall call him happy.
49) Psalm 135:13
Your name, O Yahweh, endures forever; Your memorial name, O Yahweh, throughout all generations.
These five verses let us know how long His Name will be Yahweh, and how long it will be important: forever!
50) 1st Kings 8:33
When your people Israel are struck down before the enemy, because they have sinned against you; if they turn again to you, and confess your name, and pray and make supplication to you in his house:
51) 1st Kings 8:35
When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you; if they pray toward this place, and confess your name, and turn from their sin, when you afflicted them:
Here are two verses which speak of confessing the Name.
52) Deuteronomy 28:58
If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, Yahweh your Elohim;
53) 1st Chronicles 16:29
Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name: Bring an offering, and come before him; Worship Yahweh in holy array.
54) Psalm 29:2
Ascribe to Yahweh the glory due to his name; Worship Yahweh in holy array.
55) Psalm 86:9
All nations whom you have made shall come and worship before you, O Yahweh; And they shall glorify your name.
56) Psalm 86:12
I will praise you, O Yahweh my Elohim, with my whole heart; And I will glorify your name for evermore.
57) John 12:28
Father, glorify your name. There came therefore a voice out of heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
Here we can see six verses speak to the glory of the Name of Yahweh.
58) Malachi 3:16
Then they that feared Yahweh spoke one with another; and Yahweh listened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him, for them that feared Yahweh, and that thought upon his name.
We are to not only speak and sing and confess the Name, we are also to spend time thinking on it. To be written in the book of remembrance we need to not only fear Yahweh, but also spend time thinking on His Name.
59) 2nd Chronicles 6:33
then hear from heaven, even from your dwelling-place, and according to all that the foreigner calls to you for; that all the peoples of the earth may know your name, and fear you, as does your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name.
60) Psalm 8:9
O Yahweh, our Sovereign, How excellent is your name in all the earth!
61) Psalm 79:6
Pour out your wrath upon the nations that do not know you, And upon the kingdoms that call not upon your name.
62) Malachi 1:11
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles: and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the Gentiles, says Yahweh of hosts.
Some people think that the Name is only important for the Jews. 2nd Chronicles 6:32 speaks about foreigners coming from a far country just for His “great name’s sake,” and, as you can see above, the next verse, 6:33, speaks to how Yahweh will hear those who come for His Name’s sake, for the purpose that all people on earth may know His Name. On the flip side of that, Psalm 79:6 says that any kingdom, including Gentile nations, will see His wrath if they do not call upon His Name. Malachi 1:11 even specifically uses the word Gentiles, putting to rest the notion that non-Hebrew people can’t/shouldn’t/don’t need to use His Name.
63) 1st Kings 10:1
And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of Yahweh, she came to test him with hard questions.
King Solomon did not take personal credit for his wisdom. He did not spread his fame as a problem solver. He was known worldwide for his knowledge “concerning the name of Yahweh.”
64) Leviticus 21:6
They shall be holy to their Elohim, and not profane the name of their Elohim; for the offerings of Yahweh made by fire, the bread of their Elohim, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
65) Leviticus 22:2
Speak to Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, which they hallow to me, and that they profane not my holy name: I am Yahweh.
Here are two witnesses which warn not to profane the name.
66) 1st Kings 18:24
And you call on the name of your elohim, and I will call on the name of Yahweh: and the Elohim that answers by fire, let him be Elohim. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.
The famous battle on Mount Carmel of the 450 priests of Baal versus EliYah the prophet of Yahweh was concerning which name they should call on.
67) 1st Kings 8:19
Nevertheless you shall not build the house; but your son that shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house for my name.
King David desired to build a house for the Name, but was told that, due to all of the blood he had spilled, his son King Solomon would be the one to build the temple.
68) Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will make mention of the name of Yahweh our Elohim.
69) Psalm 33:21
For our heart shall rejoice in him, Because we have trusted in his holy name.
70) Proverbs 18:10
The name of Yahweh is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it, and is safe.
There is safety in Yahweh’s Name; we should trust in it.
71) 2nd Kings 2:24
And he looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the name of Yahweh. And there came forth two she-bears out of the wood, and tore forty-two boys of them.
Here is a verse which shows the power of the Name. Some boys were teasing the prophet Elisha about his bald head. He cursed them in Yahweh’s Name, and they died for such an open disrespect of a prophet of Yahweh.
72) Ezra 5:1
Now the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem; in the name of the Elah of Israel prophesied they unto them.
Speaking of prophets, prophesying was done in Yahweh’s name (Elah is a word that means mighty one in a dialect of Hebrew, the same word, essentially, as El or Elohim, translated as God in most English language Bibles).
73) Psalm 5:11
But let all those that take refuge in you rejoice, Let them ever shout for joy, because you defend them: Let them also that love your name be joyful in you.
Here is a lovely prayer asking that those who love His Name have joyful lives.
74) Psalm 34:3
Oh magnify Yahweh with me, And let us exalt his name together.
Similar to Nehemiah 9:5 and Isaiah 5:12 we are told here to exalt His Name; something we can’t do if we aren’t using it.
75) John 10:25
Yahshua answered them, I told you, and you believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, these bear witness of me.
76) John 17:6
I manifested your name to the men whom you gave me out of the world: yours they were, and you gave them to me; and they have kept your word.
77) John 17:11
And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are.
78) John 17:26
And I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Many people believe that the Name is an Old Testament thing, and has no bearing now. These four verses show that the Messiah, who is supposed to be our example for living, did works in the Name, manifested the Name to his disciples, kept those disciples in the Name, and worked to make it known. Should we be doing any less?
79) Hebrews 13:15
Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to Yahweh continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name.
This shows that our sacrifice today, the fruit we bring to Yahweh, is to praise him and make confession to His Name. This is what we, as New Testament followers, need to be keeping.
The Son’s Name
It is not only Yahweh’s Name that is very important, according to Scripture. Yahshua, whose name means “Yahweh is Salvation,” is the Messiah, and between that and having the Father’s Name within His Name, there are a number of verses which speak to the importance of His Name as well.
80) Matthew 12:21
And in his name shall the Gentiles hope.
Again we see that even Gentiles have use for the Sacred Names.
81) Philippians 2:9
Therefore also Yahweh highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name;
And just like the Father’s Name in Nehemiah 9:5, Isaiah 5:12, and Psalm 34:3 we see that the Son’s Name is also something to be exalted.
82) Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
When we are gathering with others, we should be doing so in His Name.
83) 1st Peter 4:14
If you are reproached for the name of the Messiah, you are blessed; because the glorious Spirit of Yahweh rests upon you.
If you aren’t using the Name, it is not possible to be reproached for it.
84) Acts 2:38
And Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahshua the Messiah to the remission of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
85) Acts 8:16
for as yet it had fallen upon none of them: only they had been baptized into the name of the Sovereign Yahshua.
86) Acts 10:48
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Yahshua the Messiah. Then they prayed him to stay certain days.
87) Acts 19:5
And when they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Sovereign Yahshua.
88) Acts 22:16
And now, why do you wait? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.
All five examples of baptism in Acts are done into the singular Name of the Sovereign Yahshua the Messiah.
89) John 14:13
And whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
90) John 14:14
If you shall ask anything in my name, that will I do.
91) John 15:16
You did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
Three verses show that whatever the disciples asked for in Yahshua’s Name, they received. This may also apply to us, if we are closely following Yahweh’s will like they are, and are therefore asking for things that are Yahweh’s will to grant to us.
92) Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Sovereign Yahshua, giving thanks to Yahweh the Father through him.
93) 1st John 5:13
These things I have written to you, that you may know that you have eternal life, even to you that believe on the name of the Son of Yahweh.
94) Revelation 2:13
I know where you dwell, even where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast my name, and did not deny my faith, even in the days of Antipas my witness, my faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
95) Revelation 3:8
I know your works (behold, I have set before you an open door, which none can shut), that you have a little power, and did keep my word, and did not deny my name.
We are to do all things in the Name, believe in it, hold it fast, and not deny it. If we aren’t using it, we are doing none of those. To not use the Name Yahshua is to deny it!
96) Acts 5:40
And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles to them, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Yahshua, and let them go.
97) Acts 5:41
They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the Name.
The council in Jerusalem warned the disciples not to preach the Name of Yahshua, but they decided that they should obey Yahweh rather than man, and when they continued to use the Name, they were beaten, and even that beating did not deter them; they counted it as a blessing. If the apostles of the Messiah were willing to be beaten for using the Name, what is stopping us?
98) Acts 21:13
Then Paul answered, What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Sovereign Yahshua.
Paul took it a step further; he was willing to not just be beaten for using the Name, he was willing to die for it. The Name Yahshua was more important to Paul than his own life!!
99) Acts 3:16
And by faith in his name has his name made this man strong, whom you behold and know: yes, the faith which is through him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Miraculous healing comes through faith in His Name.
100) Acts 10:43
To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believes on him shall receive remission of sins.
101) Acts 4:12
And in none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, in which we must be saved.
If there is only one Name that saves us, what is that Name? Yahshua! Not Jesus or any other name!
Conclusion
So now the question is: if the Bible has over a hundred verses that speak to the importance of keeping and using the Father and Son’s Sacred Names, can anyone who doesn’t use them call themselves a follower of the Bible? There are over 100 verses from over 25 different books from both Testaments that speak on the importance of the Sacred Names of Yahweh and Yahshua. If the Bible telling you something over 100 times doesn’t convince you, then nothing will. Also, there are even more verses that speak about the Name; these verses were narrowed down from a longer list.
Some people will still want to know why though, why is using “the Lord” so wrong? Besides the obvious answer of “because the Bible tells you to use Yahweh and Yahshua over 100 times,” Yahweh does explain why he hates that so much.
Psalm 83:18
And they shall know that your name is Yahweh alone, Most High over all the earth.
Isaiah 42:8
I am Yahweh, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to carved images.
The first thing to understand is that Yahweh says that Yahweh is the only acceptable Name, his Name is Yahweh alone, and He will not give His Glory to another name.
Exodus 34:14
for you shall worship no other El: for Yahweh, who is zealous for His Name is a jealous El:
Ezekiel 39:25
Therefore thus says the Sovereign Yahweh: Now will I bring back the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for my holy name.
Yahweh is zealous and jealous for His Name. An understandable feeling; most of us do not enjoy it when someone calls us by the wrong name.
Exodus 23:13
And in all things that I have said to you take heed: and make no mention of the name of other elohim, neither let it be heard out of your mouth.
Joshua 23:7
that you come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their elohim, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow down yourselves to them;
Some of you may wonder, “isn’t ‘the Lord’ just the English version of Yahweh?” The answer is no, if we were to translate the Name Yahweh into English, it would be “I am that I am.” The Lord is actually an English translation of Baal, an elohim of the pagans that the Hebrews often fell away to. So when you call on “the Lord,” you are actually calling on the name of a rival elohim, an enemy of Yahweh, contrary to what Yahweh implores you to do in Exodus 23:13 and Joshua 23:7 above. That is likely why He hates “the Lord” so much. Additionally, the language of origin doesn’t matter when it comes to names. You don’t call a Latino man whose name is Juan “John,” or if their name was Jose you wouldn’t call them “Joe.” You don’t call an Asian man whose name is Wong “John.” Names do not change by language, because the proper way of dealing with a proper noun is to transliterate it (carry the sound of the word across), rather than translate it (carry the meaning of the word across).
So how did we get here? How is it that so many people use the translated name of Yahweh’s enemy rather than the transliterated Name Yahweh?
Jeremiah 44:25-26
In this manner says Yahweh of hosts, the Elohim of Israel, saying, You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink-offerings to her: establish then your vows, and perform your vows. Therefore hear the word of Yahweh, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt: Behold, I have sworn by my great name, says Yahweh, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, As the Sovereign Yahweh lives.
The Jews in Egypt had fallen into pagan worship and so Yahweh took away His Name from them as a punishment. It is a punishment since there is such blessing and safety and joy in His Name, as we saw in previous verses. This removal of His Name continues with the Jews today, who give the excuse that the Name is too holy to pronounce (a sentiment which runs contrary to the over one hundred verses here, if it was to holy to speak aloud, how could we keep it and pray in it and sing praises to it, and what verse says it is too holy to speak aloud?). But isn’t it interesting that it is a punishment to not use the Name Yahweh? How many people out there today are punishing themselves day in and day out?
Jeremiah 23:25-27
I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart? That think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgot my name for Baal.
As it is now, so it was in the past; the people have forgotten the Name Yahweh in favor of the Lord (Baal). The enemy knows that there is power and salvation in the Sacred Names, and works very hard to make sure that the people forget the name in favor of whatever title they wish to use.
I’d like to leave you with one final verse, please read it, consider it carefully, and take it to heart.
Malachi 2:2
If you will not hear, and if you will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, says Yahweh of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yes, I have cursed them already, because you do not lay it to heart.

2023.03.17 18:31 Nik-Yura Shrike and Kassad. P.1 Demon of Death

There came the slightest whisper of sound—no, not sound, a disturbance in the cool air, perhaps—and I turned in time to see something enter the chamber.
It was vaguely man-shaped but in no way human. It stood at least three meters tall. Even when it was at rest, the silvered surface of the thing seemed to shift and flow like mercury suspended in midair. The reddish glow from the crosses set into the tunnel walls reflected from sharp surfaces and glinted on the curved metal blades protruding from the thing’s forehead, four wrists, oddly jointed elbows, knees, armored back, and thorax.
At that moment I must have moved or made a sound, for large red eyes turned my way and I found myself hypnotized by the dance of light within the multifaceted prisms there: not merely reflected light but a fierce, blood-bright glow which seemed to burn within the creature’s barbed skull and pulse in the terrible gems set where God meant eyes to be.
I had no doubt that I was looking at the legendary Shrike. [1]

Prototypes of the Shrike.
Well, first of all, it is absolutely clear that this:
A golem (/ˈɡoʊləm/ GOH-ləm; Hebrew: גּוֹלֶם‎, romanized: gōlem) is an animated, anthropomorphic being in Jewish folklore, which is entirely created from inanimate matter, usually clay or mud. The most famous golem narrative involves Judah Loew ben Bezalel, the late 16th-century rabbi of Prague. [2]

Of course I had summoned the Shrike. I knew that. I had summoned it by beginning my epic poem about it. In the beginning was the Word. [1]

Golem is a clay giant, which, according to legend, was created by the righteous Rabbi Loew to protect the Jewish people.
A very common Jewish folk legend that arose in Prague is about an artificial man ("golem") created from clay to perform various "black" works, difficult assignments that are important for the Jewish community, and mainly to prevent bloody slander by timely intervention and exposure.
Having completed his task, the golem turns into dust. Folk legend attributes the creation of the golem to the famous Talmudist and Kabbalist — the chief rabbi of Prague, Maharal Judah Loew ben Bezalel, who revived the idol by putting a so-called shem, or tetragrammaton, in his mouth. The golem seems to be reborn to a new life every 33 years. This legend dates back to the beginning of the XVII century. Other golems are also known, created according to folk legend by various authoritative rabbis — innovators of religious thought. So, for example, already in some texts of the "Great Key of Solomon" written in the XVI century, there are methods for creating a "stone", which is created from clay, blood and other impurities, this lump is given the form of a person and the parody phrase "let there be a man" is proclaimed.
In this legend, folk fantasy seems to justify resistance to social evil by some, albeit timid, violence: in the image of a golem, the idea of an intensified struggle against evil, which transcends the boundaries of religious law, is legalized; it is not for nothing that the golem, according to legend, exceeds its "powers", declares its will, contrary to the will of its "creator": artificial man does what is "indecent" or even criminal under the law for a naturally living person.

COLONEL FEDMAHN KASSAD: The Shrike first appears in that same far future in which I do battle with it as per the Cantos, is this not correct, M. Aenea? That future in which the Core is making its last-ditch stand against its enemies?
AENEA: Yes.
COLONEL FEDMAHN KASSAD: And the Shrike is … will be … a construct, is it not? A created thing. A Core-created thing.
AENEA: This is accurate.
COLONEL FEDMAHN KASSAD: It will be a strange amalgam of Core technological wizardry, Void Which Binds energy, and the cybrid-recycled personality of a real human being, won’t it, M. Aenea?
AENEA: Yes, Colonel. It will be all those things and more.
COLONEL FEDMAHN KASSAD: And the Shrike will be created by the Core but will become a servant and Avatar of other … powers … entities, will it not?
AENEA: Yes.
COLONEL FEDMAHN KASSAD: In truth, Aenea, would you agree that the Shrike will be a pawn of both sides … of all sides … in this war for the soul of humankind … this war that leaps back and forth across time like a four-dimensional chess game?
AENEA: Yes, Colonel … although not a pawn. A knight, perhaps.
COLONEL FEDMAHN KASSAD: All right, a knight. [1]

The next obvious prototype is, of course, Frankenstein. Simmons himself points to an ontological relationship:

He’s Michael the Archangel and Moroni and Satan and Masked Entropy and the Frankenstein monster all rolled into one package,” I said. “He hangs around the Time Tombs waiting to come out and wreak havoc when it’s mankind’s time to join the dodo and the gorilla and the sperm whale on the extinction Hit Parade list. [1]

Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus is an 1818 novel written by English author Mary Shelley. Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a sapient creature in an unorthodox scientific experiment. Shelley started writing the story when she was 18, and the first edition was published anonymously in London on 1 January 1818, when she was 20. Her name first appeared in the second edition, which was published in Paris in 1821.
Though Frankenstein is infused with elements of the Gothic novel and the Romantic movement, Brian Aldiss has argued for regarding it as the first true science-fiction story. In contrast to previous stories with fantastical elements resembling those of later science fiction, Aldiss states, the central character "makes a deliberate decision" and "turns to modern experiments in the laboratory" to achieve fantastic results. The novel has had a considerable influence on literature and on popular culture; it has spawned a complete genre of horror stories, films, and plays.
Since the publication of the novel, the name "Frankenstein" has often been used, erroneously, to refer to the monster, rather than to his creatofather. [2]

- The Frankenstein monster, - mused the short little fat man in the wrinkled cape. - Why him?
- Because the Shrike Cult believes that mankind somehow created the thing. [1]

And here we return to the company of acquaintances and friends of Mr. Leigh Hunt: Mary Shelley, the author of the novel about Frankenstein, is the wife of Percy Shelley, a friend of Leigh Hunt, who is most directly related to the story of Aenea and the demons of Nemesis.

The first draft of the novel was written by Shelley in 1816 during a vacation at the Villa Diodati in Switzerland in the company of Percy Bysshe Shelley, George Byron and John Polidori. At Byron's suggestion, all the members of the company started writing "scary" stories; in addition to "Frankenstein", the result of this venture was also Polidori's story "The Vampire". Shelley borrowed the name "Frankenstein" from the German Frankenstein Castle, where the alchemist Johann Konrad Dippel worked in the XVII century, who became one of the prototypes of the main character of the novel. [2]

An additional (parallel) branch of kinship is provided by the fact that the magical experience that served as the plot and motive of the novel for Mary Shelley became the prototype of the Cruciform in the "Hiperion Cantos".

Another prototype of the Shrike is a character from ancient Greek mythology:
In Greek mythology, Thanatos (/ˈθænətɒs/;[3] Ancient Greek: Θάνατος, pronounced in Ancient Greek: [tʰánatos] "Death", from θνῄσκω thnēskō "(I) die, am dying") was the personification of death. He was a minor figure in Greek mythology, often referred to but rarely appearing in person.
Thanatos has an iron heart and is hated by the gods. He is the only one of the gods who does not love gifts. The cult of Thanatos existed in Sparta (an important circumstance!). [2]

- When we meet the Shrike, we tell it what we want, one of us is granted the wish, and the others die. Correct?
- So goes the myth. [1]

Important note:
The cult of Thanatos existed in Sparta.
The important thing is that it refers us to the connection with the warrior - Colonel Kassad.

Another nuance that is missing from Wikipedia:
When a mortal's life span allotted to him by the Moirs ended, Thanatos came to him, cut off a lock of hair with a sharp sword to dedicate it to Hades, and took his soul to the realm of the dead.

The Shrike lifted its arms toward me, around me. The blades on its four wrists were much longer than my own hands; the blade on its chest, longer than my forearm. I stared up into its eyes as one pair of its razorwire and steel-spring arms surrounded me while the other pair came slowly around, filling the small space between us.
Fingerblades uncurled. I flinched but did not step back as those blades lunged, sank into my chest with a pain like cold fire, like surgical lasers slicing nerves.
It stepped back, holding something red and reddened further with my blood. I staggered, half expecting to see my heart in the monster’s hands: the final irony of a dead man blinking in surprise at his own heart in the seconds before blood drains from a disbelieving brain.
But it was not my heart. The Shrike held the cruciform I had carried on my chest, my cruciform, that parasitic depository of my slow-to-die DNA. I staggered again, almost fell, touched my chest. My fingers came away coated with blood but not with the arterial surges that such crude surgery deserved; the wound was healing even while I watched. I knew that the cruciform had sent tubers and filaments throughout my body. I knew that no surgical laser had been able to separate those deadly vines from Father Hoyt’s body—nor from mine. But I felt the contagion healing, the internal fibers drying and fading to the faintest hint of internal scar tissue.
I still had Hoyt’s cruciform. But that was different. When I died, Lenar Hoyt would rise from this-reformed flesh. I would die. There would be no more poor duplicates of Paul Dure, dulfer and less vital with each artificial generation.
The Shrike had granted me death without killing me. [1]

Another prototype mentioned by Simmons that's:
Grendel is a character in the Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf (700–1000). He is one of the poem's three antagonists (along with his mother and the dragon), all aligned in opposition against the protagonist Beowulf. Grendel is feared by all in Heorot but Beowulf. A descendant of Cain, Grendel is described as "a creature of darkness, exiled from happiness and accursed of God, the destroyer and devourer of our human kind". He is usually depicted as a monster or a giant, although his status as a monster, giant, or other form of supernatural being is not clearly described in the poem and thus remains the subject of scholarly debate. [2]

Grendel for 12 years (winters) killed and ate everyone he found in the honey hall of King Heorot of the Danes of Hrothgar, as well as warriors in his swamps:

But, in the end, it was none of these things, of course. It was only Hrothgar’s claustrophobic mead hall with the monster waiting in the darkness without. We had our Grendel, to be sure. We even had our Hrothgar if one squints a bit at Sad King Billy’s poor slouched profile. We lacked only our Geats; our great, broad-shouldered, small-brained Beowulf with his band of merry psychopaths. So, lacking a Hero, we settled into the role of victims and composed our sonnets and rehearsed our ballets and unrolled our scrolls, while all the while our thorn-and-steel Grendel served the night with fear and harvested thighbones and gristle. [1]

In some interpretations (reflected, for example, in the film by R. Zemeckis "Beowulf"), the monster Grendel is the son of the king of the Danes Hrothgar and the Mother of Grendel (a chthonic female deity) - the fruit of lust for power and vanity.

When you think about it, the cause-effect begins to resemble some mad logic-loop by the data artist Carolus or perhaps a print by Escher: the Shrike had come into existence because of the incantatory powers of my poem but the poem could not have existed without the threat/presence of the Shrike as muse. [1]

Lust for power and vanity...

...blood drips on her flesh, her pale flesh, reflective now, flesh as cold as dead metal
...he watches through passion-dimmed eyes as Moneta’s lips wither and curl back, revealing rows of steel blades where teeth had been...
...her eyes like red jewels, blazing with a mad heat...
...Kassad slams both hands against the soil, lifts himself away from her … from it … his strength insane but not enough as terrible gravities press them together … sucking like a lamprfey’s mouth as he threatens to explode, looks in her eyes … the death of worlds … the death of worlds! [1]

Nightmare...

The following prototype is less obvious, but much more important:
In Greek mythology, the Minotaur (/ˈmaɪnətɔːr, ˈmɪnətɔː MY-nə-tor, MIN-ə-tor,[1] US: /ˈmɪnətɑːr, -oʊ-/ MIN-ə-tar, -oh-; Ancient Greek: Μινώταυρος [miːnɔ̌ːtau̯ros]; in Latin as Minotaurus [miːnoːˈtau̯rʊs]) is a mythical creature portrayed during classical antiquity with the head and tail of a bull and the body of a man or, as described by Roman poet Ovid, a being "part man and part bull". He dwelt at the center of the Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like construction designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus, on the command of King Minos of Crete. The Minotaur was eventually killed by the Athenian hero Theseus. [2]

It's not just a coincidence (the labyrinth on Crete is the labyrinth on Hyperion). The Cretan Labyrinth itself is a reduced copy of the ancient Egyptian occult labyrinths. And the Valley of the Tombs of Time is an analogue of ancient Egyptian burial complexes, carrying sacred and occult functions.

In Greek mythology, the Labyrinth (Ancient Greek: Λαβύρινθος, romanized: Labúrinthos)[a] was an elaborate, confusing structure designed and built by the legendary artificer Daedalus for King Minos of Crete at Knossos. Its function was to hold the Minotaur, the monster eventually killed by the hero Theseus. Daedalus had so cunningly made the Labyrinth that he could barely escape it after he built it.
More generally, labyrinth might be applied to any extremely complicated maze-like structure. [2]

The connection of the labyrinth with myths can best be understood when you get acquainted with the religious rituals dedicated to the Egyptian god Osiris, who, according to the Egyptians, was once the king of Egypt. Osiris was the god of the dead, or the god of the afterlife. Every year the death of Osiris was played out in the Egyptian mystery. Under loud lamentation and crying, the ritual of sacrificing the sacred bull Apis, which symbolized Osiris, took place. This cry turned into joyful shouts when the priest announced to the people the joyful news of the resurrection of Osiris. With these mystical rites, the Egyptians pinned their hopes for life and believed that every person, not just the Pharaoh, after death becomes like Osiris. It was believed that the labyrinth with its intricate system of passages protected the god-king in this and the next life from enemies and even from death itself.

And also:
The Mycenaean texts mention the goddess dapuritojo po-ti-ni-ja (Laburinthoio Potnia, "lady of the Labyrinth").

At first I was victim, like so many, sent Moneta, her gaze returning to the valley. Then, far in our future, I saw why the Lord of Pain had been forged … had to be forged … and then I became both companion and keeper.
...
I monitored the time tides, made repairs to the machinery, and saw to it that the Lord of Pain did not awake before his time. [1]

But this, of course, is a separate conversation...

2023.03.17 14:28 TheTalkedSpy "Does God have a sense of humor?" (November 1, 2018)

Note: The following is a Q&A done between an anonymous person and my preacher, Jeffrey W. Hamilton, of the La Vista Church of Christ. All Q&A's are done through email and are then edited to preserve the anonymity of the questioner and fix grammar errors.

Question:

I have wondered many times if God had a sense of humor. I've watched many videos where Jesus had conversations with many people. During some conversations, people admit that Jesus had this sweet, soft type of humor behind some of his remarks. So this brings me to the question, does God (the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit) have a sense of humor? If He does, are there any scriptures supporting this?

Answer:

"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven -- ... A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance" (Ecclesiastes 3:1,4).
The Bible has numerous uses of subtle puns and other forms of humor. Therefore, it is wrong to conclude that all forms of humor are condemned. If Jesus can use humorous descriptions of a man helping to get a speck of dust out of a friend's eye while having a plank in his own eye (Matthew 7:3-5), then we can conclude that humor has its place in the teaching of others.

2023.03.17 06:00 AutoModerator Daily Readings

2023.03.17 03:23 antoniop99 Please read this post

I have found out that I am of a reprobate mind, the reason I say this is because I am cold, envious, sometimes have violent thoughts and I am not a good example for Christ, I don’t show it to people but I also don’t show the kindness and love of Christ as well. I’m bitter, angry and have made myself over wise due to being on the dark parts of the internet and looking at the internet for truth instead of Gods Holy Word.
I would rather die alone and never be with somebody in a romantic relationship because through observance and studying other people and their relationships I have come to the conclusion that men and women (that are not blood related) that are in romantic relationships or married don’t truly love each other 85 to 90 percent of the time.My wife would love me because of the money that I make and I how good I look at the time, my genetics and what I provide for her and the kids. I can get bald fat and be hit with a terminal disease and she would leave (understandably so)I would not love my wife because I just like the way she looks I like her for the sexual pleasure she gives me, her genetics, she could get fat and age and I wouldn’t love her the same, but the truth is I would have never really loved her and she wouldn’t have really loved me, it’s all vanity under the sun as it says in Ecclesiastes.
I say I am a reprobate because God in his word says differently about this things concerning romantic love and marriage between man and woman and it is his perfect creation ex.
Genesis 2:18 KJV “It is not good for man to be alone; I will make an helpmeet for him”.
Ephesians 5:25-29 KJV. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Song of Solomon 4:9 KJV
Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.
Genesis 29:20 KJV
And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
Proverbs 30 18:19 KJV
There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
Ecclesiastes 4:11 KJV
Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
All these verses prove that this is a gift from God and there are many more verses but I see it as a curse due to the origin of mankind through Adam and Eve, sin first came to humankind through a romantic relationship.
This is why I say I’m reprobate and I will not lie I am terrified, my own pride and foolishness has brought me to this dark place. I believed and confessed that Jesus Christ died for all my sins past, present and future and I put my faith in that alone, only what Jesus did and me believing and confessing it once and for all and I was sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption but sometimes I think it’s a lie due to the way I think and act to Gods creation and plans.
Please pray very hard for Me that God restores me, that the power of Jesus Christ restores me just like God did to Israel. I am filled with fear, hate, bitterness, confusion, envy, anger, violent thoughts instead of being filled with fruits of the Holy Spirit like love, temperance, patience, meekness, peace, faith I have Anger towards God and women sometimes. I hate myself for it. I would think that I would be making good points in my head but the foolishness of God is more wise than the wisdom of man.
